Beauty is more than skin deep.
Everybody wishes for radiant, glowing, lustrous skin. Just using make up or moisturizing creams does not work. Concealers, botox are quick fixes and they cause more damage.
Beauty within is beauty without, what goes on inside shows outside. So what is most important for good skin is good food and better digestion.
You are what you eat. More junk food, chips crackers, pretzels, lots of sugary foods and drinks will definitely show up on your skin. It will cause acne, blisters, boils etc… If you ignore these symptoms and keep on eating wrong foods it may lead to psoriasis etc… Too many spicy and salty foods may also cause rashes, too much dry foods will make skin dry, rough and wrinkly. Lots of cheesy and sweet foods will make skin clammy and dull. So pay attention. Eat more fresh, natural and seasonal fruits and produce.

Emotions Can Reflect On Your Face Too:
What can we do get glowing skin?
Eat according to your Prakriti:(Dosha – Your Body Constitution)
If your Vata is increased, favor warm, moist, dense foods like soups, stews, grains herbal teas and plenty of warm liquids with sesame oil.
If your Pitta is acting up, favor cooling foods, bland foods, salads, grains, sweet cooling foods like watermelon, cantaloupe etc… are better choices.
If your Kapha is imbalanced make sure you spice up your life. Add ginger, garlic, black pepper in the food and eat lighter foods like baked chicken, grilled veggies, or broiled fish etc… Stay away from salty junk food.
Healthy tips:
Eat organic fruits and veggies. Wash them thoroughly and eat with the skin on, at least fruits with thin skin. Fruit skin improves our skin.
Wash face with a fruit peel tea. Pomegranate, limes, lemons, oranges etc… Boil peels in a glass of water for few minutes and rinse your face with that water. Skin will get a good tone from doing this.
Turmeric is an excellent spice for skin. In India there is a ritual about putting turmeric on brides and groom’s face just before the wedding day.
Skin needs to breathe, so some time of the day you have to be without any make up on.
Here are some home remedies:
- Milk and turmeric – Mix ½ tsp turmeric powder and 1 tsp milk. Apply on the face. Leave it on for 10 – 15 minutes and then wash it off.
- Triphala face pack – Mix 1 tbsp triphala powder with 3 tbsp water and apply on the face. Wash the mask off after 15-20 minutes with warm water.
- Raw Honey – Apply honey on your face Leave it on for 10 – 15 minutes and then wash it off.
- Egg white – Apply egg white on your face Leave it on for 10 – 15 minutes and then wash it off.
- Lentil Flour – Mix 1 tbsp red lentil flour and 3 tbsp milk. Apply on the face. Leave it on for 10 – 15 minutes and then wash it off.
Skin is the largest sense organ. Blind or deaf people receive impulses thru their skin, so keeping skin moist and sensitive is important. Facial and body oil massage is very important as it opens and activates your senses.
Oils to use based on your Prakriti:(Dosha – Your Body Constitution)
How to massage your Face:
From chin to the forehead
Leave the oil on for 10 minutes, and then wash it off with warm water and natural soap. If you want to have flawless and radiant skin, remember that Beauty is not skin-deep. It is deep within you! Like an Ocean – Beautiful waves on the surface depend on the serenity deep down below!
